I have searched the text for the answer, or how to get the answer, but can't find it. Can anyone shed some light on how to get the answer

In mathematics, the real numbers may be described informally as numbers that can be given by an infinite decimal representation, such as 2.4871773339…. The real numbers include both rational numbers, such as 42 and −23/129, and irrational numbers, such as π and the square root of 2, and can be represented as points on an infinitely long number line.

Because the net trade balance is negative, the number would be -$60,000,000

60,000,000 dollars seems real enough to me.

If the problem means real as contrasted to integer, then 60,000,000.00.

Is this for a computer programming course?

For negative cash flow, use a minus sign:

-60,000,000

Negative integers ARE real numbers too.

This isn't an answer, just another question.
Is this all the information you have. It seems to me that you would need more information.
I will ask hubby when he gets up and see if he can answer it. He's the business man.
