I am confused. On Tuesday night I lost about a big brown gross glob. About the size of a quarter then following that I had a lot of discharge with brownish, pinkish streaks. Sorry for the TMI, I know it is gross. I assumed it was my plug but according to what I have been reading the plug is not brown in color. What was it then? Or was it my plug? I am 38 weeks on Monday a fingertip dilated. Thank you.

I did call the office. She said it sounds like the plug but was not sure. I was just confused after reading all the books I have. It was not bloody, but brown... thanks again.

It was your plug. When I lost mine it was exactly the same, the fact that oit is brown just means it was old blood.

I described it to my doctor and asked her if it was my plug and she said that almost certainly, as it is different for everyone, and can range from clear through to pink and streaky right through to brown.

If it was only the size of a quarter you may have more to lose though... I had a lot more and it carried on for a few hours.

Good luck!

It was your plug! the brown stuff is just a bit of old blood. When the cervix starts to efface and dilate, the cappiliaries (sp?) in the cervix burst, and thats where the blood comes from.

my plug was brown in tint and the dr said that is happens to be that color sometimes due to many reasons so no need to worry. I lost mine at 35 weeks and if this is your first child then you could still make it till your due date the dr says that it is the signs that you are dilating

That sounds like your plug. It looks like a big glob of snot, and you can lose it all at once, or little by little like I did. I lost mine 2 weeks before I went into labor.

Sounds like the mucus plug. Remember periods...(they are such a lost memory now!)..anyway, you know how sometimes you get the "old" blood that wasn't red? It's along those lines.

It was probably your mucous plug with a little bit of bloody show. You should expect labor to be happening soon!!
Good Luck!

Well this happend to my friend and the doctor's told her that it was her plug and that she had to be careful because she was at risk of going into labor at any time. I suggest that if you haven't been to the doctor yet to discuss this problem then you should go and take it easy.
