Umm. For so long Hotmail has been an email server, basically if you want to know the exact scientific concept of email servers, you should consult Wikipedia.org and study it from there.

But to give you a basic insight, email servers act as agents that retrieve, save and send mail. Hotmail is a web-based email service meaning you will be able to receive and check mail online through an internet browser (in comparison to needing email clients such as Outlook Express).

The Hotmail server will receive it for you, in general.

Just log back in to the account periodically to check if you got more mail.
