Done by "The Big Bopper" aka, J.P. Richardson, who, along with Buddy Holly, and Ritchie Valens, died in a plane crash in an Iowa corn field, back in early 1959... The 1972 song "American Pie" by Don McLean was about that fatefull day, the day "the music died".
