The Venus razor is the Roman version of the Greek god Aphrodite - the goddess of beauty and love. So I guess they're hoping that people assume the razor will automatically help you obtain love and beauty through symbolic naming.
There was also a commercial a while back for some type of aspirin, maybe excedrin or tylenol where there was a bad storm at sea because Poseiden, the god of the sea, had a head ache and when he found the brand of aspirin floating around him, his headache went away and the storm ceased. If that brand of aspirin is good enough to cure the aches and pains of a Greek god, then surely it's good enough to cure yours I guess is the message...

FTD, Mercury Casualty Insurance use Hermes, the messenger, as their symbol. Standard Oil uses a red Pegasus. Janus. Zeus, Cronos, and Ares are used as names and symbols of a lot of industries. Atlas was used on a moving company (they don't use him now) and Hercules was painted on exercise equipment. From time to time, a television commercial will use the gods to sell a car or some fast food. And of course there's always Trojan condoms, but that's not a god or a goddess....
