What is it that distinguishes Truth (capital T) from Lies? It is the truth that works the best in reality. If I told you that your computer operated better when you fill it with chocolate ice cream, it would be pretty easy to say that is a lie - it just doesn't work.

Why would anyone lie (lowercase L) then? Isn't it obvious? They lie because lies work! If you want something - whatever it is - a lie can often be much more influential than the truth. Even lies of omission can work well on completely reasonable people by denying them information on which they might come to a undesirable (to you) outcome. In most cases, a lie works best at influencing people, if not in actually living in reality.

If a person is alone, they can only lie to themselves. There is no point in lying to a table. And sometimes even then it can be one of the better ways to get yourself to do something!

This is the Truth that lives inside a lie: that the attractive is not always reasonable, and that the reasonable is not always attractive. So it goes.

People lie for many reasons, but mainly because people
believe either themselves or others are incapable of
dealing with the truth, below is a list of some of the
reasons for lies. Please excuse the overlap.

To deceive for personal gain.
Caring about self at the expense of others.

To deceive for societal gain.
Caring about society at the expense of a single other.

To test competence.
Does an individual believe everything they hear.

To test loyalty.
Will an individual remain loyal even if they believe the asker
is incompetent.

To show pity.
To lie rather than to tell an offensive truth.

To protect.
To lie to avoid the potential for a harmful scenario.

To satisfy curiousity.
To lie to observe the results(but not necessarily for personal
gain).

To avoid explanation.
To lie to escape explanation by purposely presenting
one's self to be incompetent.

Maybe we should all pray together with the wise man:

Remove far from me vanity and lies: Give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me...Prov. 30. 8

Good luck!

Oh, the prayer thingy's too much for you!0! Well, how about this:

Most people lie because they don't have a choice; since they don't know any better. It's not their fault. How can you judge someone for lying, if he doesn't know the truth?

This ignorance seems to create some kind of fear which prevents the person, sometimes, even from moving; paralyzed by fear, and how can you judge someone for not being able to even lie?

After all, can you honestly say that you've never lied? What's the difference between one lie and another?

Don't be fooled, everything has beauty, and judging is not necessary, only love is.

GOOD LUCK!

People lie to serve their own self-interest without care of another's feelings. People also lie to protect their own feelings or the feeling of others. In some instances it's okay to lie and in other instances it is not okay to lie. For example, if someone asks me how much money I make that is none of their business. You can either tell them it is not their business or you can lie. It's not wrong to lie if it's none of their business. The other example is bad lieing. When you lie to cover up a wrong you have done.

Everyone has an image of themself in their heads. It's a puffed up version of reality. It's called ego. We gravitate towrd things that keep that puffed up image alive, and even enhance it. Some people live for it, others try to transcend it with true humility. But it's only an image, an illusion, so when the truth finally catches up, some people can't stand to have their bubble burst, so they lie to try to hide the truth. Lies are all about preserving the ego and denying the truth that lets the ego know you're not what you think you are.

Sometimes, we have to lie to defend ourselves to withstand our own views!
Everyone of has different views right!?
But I'm not indulging or pushing you to lie at all times!
I know, lying is a sin! If you do it again and again! And you haven't learn from your mistakes! What becomes of you?
Still liar? and will always be a liar!
And that's bad!

Well...tell the truth....for the truth will find its way someday!
Your conscience will struck you!
Stop lying for lying is just like cheating!
hmmm.....

If you lie to yourself, it may be because you can't stand or don't want to know the truth.
If you lie other people, it may be because you want them to feel good or you want to look good in others' eyes.

Because we are judged not by what we say and do, but how it is evaluated... we spend more time rationalizing, excusing, justifying, lying and shifting the focus as opposed to being honest and changing our behavior.

Because the truth often compels us to change, and it is a strange quality of human character that we would rather be ruined than changed.
