There move was so recent and they have a new stadium they will be playing there a while longer and plus MLB wants a team to succeed in the area, they want that to be a new big market for them.

If the Nationals didn't go under when they drew 6,000 per night as the Montreal Expos, nothing will kill them off.

Seriously, every sport city faces this problem when they spend roughly $250 million+ to lure and keep major league teams in their city. Many of the people who can't or won't buy a ticket to see the games will decry that city revenues are going to benefit a private enterprise.

The reason many cities are willing to part with the money to build these the stadiums is that it gives each major league city prestige by having them around. There are civic pride arguments that are made by building the stadiums.

That being said, if the Nationals don't want to turn into the Expos on the Potomac, they need to start winning games and contending. Something they will not do as long as Jim Bowden is ruining the franchise.

The Nationals organization will be in DC for a good while anyway. With all of the money already invested it would be hard to move in the next 30 or so years.

With the new stadium opening next year, they will be around for quite awhile. Now if they could only get some players....
