It's a conspiracy. We as a group of Yahoo Answerers should boycott all products made with it. There's a lot of us, maybe it would work.

Thankfully there are products out there made with cane sugar. You just have to look harder.

Good question, by the way!

Preservative, and for artificial Flavor. Some have said they add those "extra" ingredient because it is actually artificial sugar flavor, and not the real one, which somehow benefit's the company. Another rumor is (which is similar to McDonald Rumor) that they add these ingredient so people eat lots of it, and keep coming back for it. The sugar cane would be REALLY good, wonder if that's available in Brazil, since they are using sugar cane for MANY things including the usage of Ethanol instead of gasoline.

We have lots of corn not much sugar. Between government subsidy and quantity it is cheaper for large manufactureres to use the high fructose corn syrup

It is not that this corn syrup thing is new or just used "nowadays" it has been in many ingredients of packaged food for years. It is just lately that the pulic has been made aware of the down side of the ingredient, thus it is more noticible to us the consumer as to how often the stuff is ingested by us.

It's cheaper so it allows the company to make a higher profit, and it's fattening so you gain more weight and then have to go on an expensive diet to lose the weight, .......... it's a never-ending cycle of evil.
