Frankly, I never check price for a wheel chair before.

But $4,500 is way too high of what I have expected.
I wonder if that supplier overprice it.

It is already sad for a need of wheelchair, can't people made is more cheaply available.
A practical but cheap, not hype type, should be enough.

How many families can folk up $4k for that, image the medical bill and lose of income.

Make the world "warmer" (the heart I mean)

Yup...we just went thru that...we didn't use a supplier though...we shopped around on the online listings and classifieds and found a sports wheelchair for $50 bucks like new...Wheelchairs are expensive which is stupid because if you need one...chances are..your going to have low income.

Yo! And, they aren't coverd by medicare.

Check out one that is used...you might be able to find one that is in fairly good shape or that wouldn't take to much to fix up. You might be able to put it under your house insurance...look into it.

Oh, and another place to look: your local Independent Living Council. They are a national organization that helps individuals with disabilities find items that provide a better quality of life. They might be able to point you in a direction for a less expensive chair (they may even have a local network listing for used chairs in decent condition)...BUT, I have not personally used them, for this purpose...so, I'm not sure about the "less expensive" side. They are a GREAT resource, nonetheless. A government advocate.

Yep. Sounds about right bud sorry to say. Have you thought of hiring one or getting a grant from Social Services to help with the cost? Also Disability Living Allowance. God....I bore myself sometimes so Lord knows how you feel reading this....lol.

Oh my, it better be gold-plated for that price! I hope that you can find something to help you with that expense. Medical insurance should help if you have it. If not, you may have to take out a loan. Maybe they will let you have it on time payment. Man that really is expensive.
Have you looked to the Red Cross for assistance? Sometimes they help.

Ouchies...See the NHS should be giving things like wheelchairs out to normal families not boob jobs to people who've begged to be famous by going on crap like Big Brother!
