A happy marriage is attainable. A perfect marriage is not. It all depends on how you set goals and priorities. The most important thing in a marriage is mutual respect and teamwork. You get that down, and the rest can take care of itself. However, be forewarned that marriages change and you have to adapt constantly to keep it going.

Having never been married, I can only comment on what I observe. All of the long lasting marriages are never happy all of the time. There are parts that suck! The thing is, you have to work through the rough patches in order to make the marriage work.

Happy marriage as in ''always happy''? A myth. There are good times and there are bad times in even the best of marriages. The bad times will suck, and the good times will be happy. The trick is to do your best to make sure the good times outnumber the bad.

I'm happily married, I don't think that means a marriage without problems, just a marriage that is able to work through the problems.
It's the people who are too lazy to work through the problems that have forced the divorce rate up so high. I'm not saying some divorces aren't unavoidable, I just think that people are not always willing to work on themselves to help things in a marriage.

Definitely something attainable. It does take a lot of hard work. It's never easy, but well worth it.
