I have a Honda Accord 1997 and about 6 months ago my Maintence light was orange and i took it to the Honda dealer when i was told that i had to fix some wire and somthing esle. I took it to a normal dealer ( for cheaper price) and fix the problem. The orange on the maintence light stayed orange never change to green. Recently, The light turned in a red-orange color and i'm worried that somthing could be wrong. But honestly i haven't notice any problem in my car. I'm thinking of taking to the dealer but i'm trying not to get ripped off. Anybody have similar problem and have any suggestions?

I did fix the problem with the "wire and somthing esle" i just went to another mechanic that i trust to give me a cheaper price. The dealer is a rip off. I went to a mechanic that is a friend of my mom that she goes to all the time. I fix the problem, the color of the maintence just never went back to green after i fix the problem.

Hello:
If you were told you had to "fix some wire and something else"
then you should take it in.To be sure of the problem(s) with your car;have them "run the codes on it" there are codes(faults) stored in your cars ECM that can be read at the repair shop by a mechanic. If you know someone that is good with cars you can also rent a code reader from your local Auto Zone,or other major parts supplier. Many times the engine malfunctions and you dont have any symptoms(yet)
then again, you could have a faulty check engine signal.Due to the age of your car chances are it is need of repair(s).
Good luck.

The maintenance light comes on after 7500 miles since it was last reset. It will change colors if ignored.
To reset. insert ignition key into slots below indicator at lower right corner of instrument cluster. Push key in until reminder window changes from red to green.

I would look at your owner's manual to see if it is listed in the maintenance section. If you don't have a manual, it wouldn't hurt to go buy a car/repair manual, such as Chilton's at AutoZone or O'Reilly's. Sometimes a sensor could be out, or it could be working and be saying that you really do have a problem. Unfortunetly, sometimes you have to put it on a diagnostics machine to see what the problem is. I would do all the easy things first, though. Check your manual, make sure you have plenty of oil, brake fluid, enough water in your radiator, plenty of transmission fluid, etc.

in case you're continuously using DOT3 brake fluid on your Honda, it quite is going to heavily effect shift high quality after a on an identical time as. it quite is not any humorous tale and it quite is no longer crap to get you to purchase honda transmission fluid. change back to Honda fluid and you will see a distinction. side observe, I omit my '80 3 accord, it used 10W40 as transmission fluid (according to producer's standards)!!!!!
