Actually, that's a really good question. You could also try your local library, they often have lots of stuff to do with that area's history; it can go quite far back too.

Chances are, if you live in a small town or village, there will not be a website that deals with that. If you live in a large town or city there might just be a website for the local historical organization, or from the local newspaper that covers the history of your area.

Your best bet would be to go directly to three different organizations: Your local newspaper and see if they have articles in the past that cover your local history, most of them do; Your local historical society, most cities and counties of any size have them; and thirdly, your local real estate board. You might also even try the local library, they might well have information on local history.

You leave no clues. Which town or city do you live in?

Your first port of call concerning any history of where you live are the older members of your own family - grand parents. Then the older folk living in your street.

After all of that, you need to visit your local library and start searching the archives. Most of the stored archive material will probably be in the form of micro-film which is dead easy to search through. Someone will help you with that.

In addition to all of the above, you need to search the web. Go on-line and put the name of your town or city into the search engine slot and see what you get. You might add words such as 'history' to your search parameters.

It sounds want to me, nevertheless, that he isn't an extremely upfront or trouble-free guy or woman so be very careful approximately what you're taking as certainty and continuously do your homework on the laptop, verify each and every final element so he can not have even the possibility to lie. back, im sorry you ought to circulate by using this, yet chatting with him sounds liek the suitable option to me.

I don't know that there is one site that will give history on every part of the world. What part of the world do you live in? Does your County (or other comparable government area) have a history museum? You may also want to go to the library to the reference dept and ask (or call).

Start with a search on the history of whatever city.... There are no doubt state resources as well. Your local library would have old newspapers ect. for the time period in question. Your library might also have information on the local historical society. or Yahoo search (insert name of city... historical society)
