Why wouldn't they install a Taliban-like regime? There's a reason they are fighting, and it is not so they can go home someday...

If we pull out of Iraq is not even a possibility. No way Jose ! Now I'll turn it around and say, are we permamently building a base and staying in Iraq is the question.. We should and might inorder to continue with our cause. There is too much interest at stake to pull out any time soon. In the otherhand ,
Al-Qaeda and other Insurgent groups will continue with their senseless cause, but slowly will weakend. It would be nice to have our soldiers home.....

I have a real question in my mind as to who are Al-Qaeda fighting and whether a lot of the fighting is Iranians loyal to their sect fighting to get rid of us. Some of our soldiers are not the best representatives of our country. They create an atmosphere of fear and hatred. So some of the problems that are there would go away if we leave.
We also do not know if Iran would stand up to Al-Qaeda if we left. But it is apparent that Iran's government would not do anything if we stay. They only have reacted to the pressure of the Congress. The President has no real incentive to leave. For the very reasons that he went to war.

Don't forget there was no Al Qaeda in Iraq. They're only there to beat up on the Americans. Once the US leaves they'll leave Iraq too. That will not stop the violence though. There a numerous factions figthing in Iraq. Al Qaeda is just one of them.

Well if history teaches us anything, they won't leave, they'll start retaliating and establish a strong-hold to start eliminating en-mass, the Shites and probably the Kurds as well. They'll start to recruit and eventually have full control of the area again. Everything we did there will be lost and we'll be back in ten years.

It's time to finish it, but our intel community is still struggling to re-establish itself so we waste time in chasing ghosts while the terrorists move with relative impunity. this could have been allot more simple but without intel...... you gotta use more troops to cover more bases rather than hit with a prior knowledge of the situation.

It will be up to the Iraqi people to eliminate Al Qaeda in their midst.

Sure. After all, Bush has let them rebuild in Afghanistan. They'll just go back there.

Of course, they wouldn't even exist now if we'd finished them off when we had the chance, instead of invading Iraq. But then, how could Bush and Cheney profit of wars if they don't keep the conflicts going?

Well, obviously, they will share tea and sweet candy, and read the peaceful passages of the koran as they peacefully help to build a state where equal rights exist for everyone, all religions are tolerated, women are treated as equals, and terrorism is actively discouraged.
