I have to say that SOME American films can be VERY funny.
You know that humour is cultural in basis. What makes American people laugh and guffaw would make many British people wince, or groan, and Americans sometimes just don't get British comedies.
The best comedy to be had, for me... Australian.
Australian comedies are SO funny I laugh long and hard (for instance films like "Muriel's Wedding", or "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert") and yet my Swiss friend didn't really get it. When I was watching films made in Switzerland, I didn't really laugh, and yet she'd be in bits.
There are many different types of humour, as you know, dark humour, slapstick and so on.
I think it's... to each their own.

Are you kidding me? British humor is horrible for the most part. It's all poopy jokes and obvious puns. American comedy is exported throughout the world honey...British comedy is to a certain extent. Dont get me wrong I love Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz looks great...all the Monty Pythons were funny...but when I watch the BBC comedy shows I want to shoot myself in the head.
try watching "Arrested development" Seinfelfd or something like that...its smart American humor.
Although Arrested Development takes some time ..you cant really just pick it up.

If you have ever lived in Germany you will know it is a myth that Germans do not have a sense of humour.
The Germans buy up all the British comedy shows because they find them so funny.
I don't know any Americans so can't comment on their sense of humour.

You obviously haven't met the right Americans yet! Sense of humors range from dry & witty to the ridiculous. We are different though in so far as what we find funny. After living in South Africa for 3 years, I am just beginning to understand their sense of humor & vice versa. As a side note, it seems to me that different nations or cultures have a sense of humor that goes back to childhood and collective experiences which an outsider just doesn't get.

And how do you mean that? I'm American and I see many people with a childish sense of humor that never seems to grow up. A lot of British humor is very dry. Many Americans don't seem to get it. I like to think I have a well-rounded sense of humor. You can disagree, of course. But I appreciate it all.

You recognise very good that the Brits have a well feel of humour, however that's now not humorous, and neither are you. Your avatar is dull for a begin and your questions are offensive.

They should! In my experience, many Americans do not understand sarcasm, irony...or anything remotely grim. Saying that, I am sure that there are a lot of Americans with a great sense of humour...
I just haven't met anyone yet.

I am with you. British humour is the best. It's too intelligent for them.
