Are you proud to be straight? Straight sexual orientation people are not proud to be straight but gay people are often proud to be gay and it's because gay people fought to get a freedom, were discriminated against. Can I say the same thing when I talk about racism? White people more say "who cares about rare" (at least my friends who are Whites less care about racism) but is that because they don't have to care about it because they have never been taken away their freedom like a straight people?

I don't want to offend anyone but just want to know the truth.

One can't feel pride unless there is a feeling of that something they feel or believe is unaccepted by the masses, but isn't wrong. People just target them to be less than human. Ergo, one wouldn't necessarily have to be proud of being straight unless they were surrounded by those who were not and trying to make that person feel out of place or like that person was a misfit. The necessity of having to have been in the closet with how one feels about other people and no longer having to keep their sexuality a secret, is something to be proud of. Having endured persecution and discrimination and being treated unfairly, and not turning around and doing it to others, rather using those experiences to ensure that no one else would have to endure the same hardships, is something to be proud of.

Being straight is something that should not be proud of but more to be thankful? Since it has been like that for decade or since civilization started, its naturally born in one person's life without you fight for it. Unless people are born gays and fighting to stand out as straight - maybe thats something to be proud of. It's all about making bold choices that most people are against of not only about being gay. when you made that choice and stick with it - I say what not to be proud of. Fighting for something you want? - whats not to be proud of when you have it - but sometimes, some people ; it's a different opinion.

You might want to ask this in ethics and law.

Well you would have to say the same thing about women's rights. Women are proud to finally have rights and being acknowledged as equals!

The only thing i can pick apart is:
Does it really matter if your straight or not? Black or White?
Purple or green?
So what's wrong with people being proud to have won some freedom?
I'm missing your argument.

Being yourself in a honest and pure way is okay.

The rules of society and good behavior applies to all areas of life, including these areas of concern.

However, If your a proud polish, white, straight, luthern, bowler, that loves "mash reruns" ..then by God make a t-shirt and wear it.

ok first thing you already discriminated between our difference's the problem is you, me ,him ,her ,them what the hell is the difference we all should be proud to be who we are not who they are because who really cares what people think of us we live each and everyday to look back and be proud of ourselves.but that does not mean everyone does not have the right to there own opinion.simply everyone has to learn to respect each other before we judge who they are

It is also difficult to be proud when in a majority as it is seen as feeling superior over minorities. What a sad state of affairs.

When you have to fight for something it brings out dignity and a sense of survival. When you fight for your country you hoot and scream and celebrate because you love to have to try to change and gain something. When African Americans had to fight for their freedom they were proud when they stood up for themselves and were beaten down because things would have to change someday. When the crusaders would die they were proud because the died for a cause that they believed in. When gays stand up for their sexuality it makes them feel proud because they are fighting for their right to love how they want to love.

I am straight. I am not proud. I am not proud of much. Take whatever for granted. A lot goes into what we are that we don't deserve pride for.

i am proud to be straight....
ok...that felt a little awkward to say...
what i mean is....you can't be proud of something unless you've earned it.....

i would like you to scream...im proud to be straight......
weird huh?
gay people are proud because they had to fight for their somewhat tolerance......so you're right......

as for racism....i don't call being proud to be white racism...i call it pride in yourself(how redundant)

racism is when you wish harm upon another race....it's as simple as that

i am proud to be me ! being straight a is a straight mans problem as being gay is a gay man problem. i dont care what goes on in anyones bed room but mine! the only thing that matter to me is who i am doing ,
as for racism i think it starts with me and how i see myself. i cant take offence to something i dont see myself as. for exsample if u weighted 100 pounds would u be offended by someone making fat jokes? (i think not unless your pro anna who alway SEE them selfs as fat)
oh you may think there dumb and mean but would you be personly offended?
