A switch closes a connection and as such has no polarity.

With things like th reset switch and power switch, it doesn't matter which way round they go. For the lights on the front panel, however, it does matter. Usually the colored wire is + and the white is -. If you get them the wrong way around, the light won't work, but no damage will be done. If that's the case, just reverse the connection.

With the hard disk, floppy, CD/DVD and motherboard, the power connectors only go in one way - don't force the connectors if they won't go in (you probably already know this, but just in case there's anyone else out there that's building a PC that may accidentally blow something up!)

White is usually negetive and red is usually positive. To make sure, just connect the wires for the power switch and try hooking up only one of the LED wires (the one for the Power LED) and test it.
If you know the manufacturer of the computer case, then they might provide the information that you need on their web site.

Hi,

Polarity is not important on a PC power switch. A switch just completes a circuit that is probably wired to a TRIAC or a DIAC that powers the motherboard.

Basically, both wires on the switch are the same polarity.

Hope that helps.
