most of the time my man jumps straight in, and i read the instructions to myself.
when i hear "oh **** it they didn't ****en put any ****en bits we need in this ****en box"
that's when i chirp in.

Read them after I've put together a TV stand that looks like a chair. Had a table in flat pack for the last 2 days. I may just keep on eating my meals off the box it came in

I read the instructions while I am putting something together. Mainly because I hate doing stuff twice, so I'd rather get it right the first time.

Yes, I read the instructions. Every time. My Dad always said, "if all else fails, read the instructions." I never forgot it. I lack self-confidence, by the way, so I check the instructions on EVERYTHING, EVERY TIME.

LOL! I read afterwards. Most of the time I can figure it out but then if it doesn't work I get mad and read. Hubby goes nuts b/c I don't read the directions.
