You soul is not a physical thing, so no. It's the essence of your being. It's the moral and spiritual part of humans. If you believe in god, it's the part that survives death and is subject to happiness or misery depending on how you spent your life (good/bad, sin/not sin, etc).
If you picture going somewhere else/existing somehow, somewhere else after your human body dies, THAT is what your soul is. The only way for it to 'interact' with the physical world would be through your morals and values (which in themselves are not part of the physical world).

Aquinas postulated that the body does not so much contain a soul as the soul contains the body-- in other words, what is meant by soul is the totality of the person. If this is correct, then the soul would be in constant interaction with the physical world.

You don't HAVE a soul. You ARE a soul with a body. The body interacts with the physical world. When we die the soul goes to the next world and the body rots in this one.

our soul is expecting that we do what we like and still succeed, our soul go against the instinct.
That is why why are slave for it, and we are so addicted to the computer, our mind is so stupid and we can't even figure out what is funnier to do.
We keep hoping for something to happen but we don't know that everything should be hoped equally.
When you reach the state of constant rebirth, you may understand this : life is no more than a dream, life is a game and it will be played like we play starcraft.
We are so souulless, we can't have any soul but knowledge. We are nothing but inactive ones, under the pressure of time and activities, we can't feel ourself.
But we shall develop toward a state where we can feel something. That state of confusion is now and tonight, it may be true and real and destroying the values.

I have always equated soul with the mind or functioning of the brain. The spirit is the divine spark that comes from God and when it leaves one is dead. The soul on the other hand is what survives after death carrying the memories, and insights and all life experiences in high fidelity which you review in the 'akashic record'. Is this correct?

YES OF COURSE!!!We are all spiritual beings having a physical being experience.Our spirits,our souls are who we are..Our soul is our personality.I think..Im not too sure but Im almost positive..In the bible who are told that our bodies is a vessel for our soul to experience human life on earth..before we join the Lord..

without the soul, we will be dead...when we are sleeping, half of our soul will get out from our body n return when we wake up...imagine if dont have soul..=)
