Quite the opposite - I like to believe in what I can see, prove or have proved to me.

Religion is for people that need a reason to justify there existence and give meaning to their life.
Personally, I can't believe in something that was written about over 2000 years ago and ever since has not been proved in the slightest.
Science holds the answers, so i put my faith into that.
Religion was the first form of mind control used on the masses, by putting the 'fear of God' into people they were more likely to be obedient. People were stupid and naive back then and without the science knowledge they would obviously believe the God story.
Religious people say God existsin all of us, my response to that would be that he exists only in your head. This does not make him real.

I am an atheist because I beleive that without any scientific proof of the existence of god, the only LOGICAL conclusion is that religion is a man-made construct. Also, the organization of religion has done severe harm to humanity. More people have been tortured and killed in the name of god than for any other single reason. Most religious people beleive what they beleive because they were raised to beleive that and they have never applied any true critical thinking to their beleif system. They blindly follow the god of their parents and allow their religious leaders to dictate their lives. I could go on and on, but that's the basic idea.

I'm a Christian of a Pentecostal bent.
I don't go to church but that's because I have a social phobia.
Last time I prayed - 4 am this morning (Nightshift, I should really go to bed - I'm on again tonight). It went along the lines of
Lord ..... Father ......
You can just picture the scene in Heaven.
Oi, Gabe, Mike; come over here a minute. She ignores me for years and then as soon as she wants something, its' ... "Da-ad"
But that's how I see God, as my Father. My Dad was brilliant, I honestly believe I did have the best Dad in the world and I look on God as being my Dad times infinity.
He doesn't always like what I do but He will never stop loving me and is always waiting for me to phone (pray). I picture him putting me on the celestial equivalent of hands-free to let me blow off steam, rant, cry hysterically and then it's his turn to say something comforting.
No, not in an audible voice but ... how can I put this ... it sounds strange if you've never experienced it ... you can almost feel Him putting His arms around you. A feeling of calm 'descends' and you feel so happy/peaceful you could dance.
Can I just say to those who say that they won't believe in something they can't see for themselves .... You can't see 'love' that doesn't mean the emotion doesn't exist.
I am a bit of an armchair scientist and you can often find me in S&M - answering, not asking. I read BBC Focus - hardly a Christian publication but I also acknowledge that there are some things that science can't explain and I doubt it ever will.
I am not a demonstrative person by nature - I'm aspergic, I like to keep myself to myself but a blessing from Daddy can send me into a huge fit of giggles and get me dancing round the room and beaming from ear to ear.
Yes, I know you feel sorry for the poor little simpleton who can't get by without her God-crutch. Except, I have an IQ of around 140 and have a hunger for all things scientific with a leaning towards theoretical physics and would love to sit down for a chin wag with Richard Dawkins, Stephen Hawking, Seth Shostak and Heather Couper ... there are a few others but I have a small sitting room.

I'm not religious at all - I don't believe in God and never have done. My mum is but it's never been something that I required in my life.
I think I'm responsible and intelligent enough to not have to use a belief system in order to explain things to me.
I believe in the soul because it it what makes people differ - but I do not believe in an afterlife etc.
I think of religion as just another mythology. I do not like people forcing their beliefs on to me - everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
If someone else is religious - that's up to them - I just don't happen to believe the same thing.
Religion is as man-made as the M25.

I am not religious at all. I have a very strong faith in God. I believe that he is with us in a very personal manner, with each individual soul. I believe in the Christ and that the Christ is within each person on this earth. I rely heavily on Our Father in every aspect of my life. But I am not religious. I don't believe you find God just in a church or any house of worship. I believe a house of worship is a place to congregate and share the Father. But I don't believe it's necessary to attend to love God and to have Him in one's life. God is everywhere, not just in special buildings.

Asking 'Are you VERY religious' implies that I am religious and you are asking the degree of that religion. But I am not religious at all - 'very' or otherwise.

Not at all, mainly because it's awaste of time. There's never been any evidence of it not being anything more than an excuse for the people at the top getting more money!

im personally not religious!
but i respect those who have faith in something
i beleve in fate
i personally don't think a man is capable of that much. [i really didn't mean that in a disrespectful way thats just what i beleve]
i once had a friend who's father was extremly religious and tryed to convince me to beleve in him but that was just worthless and a total waste of time i use to hate going to her house!

I am not religious, but I am very spiritual.
I believe in God, I believe in Heaven.
I do not believe in taking someone else's word about what God expects from me. I do not believe in confessing to someone else to get forgiveness. God was with me when I did it, He already knows, we'll take it up later.
I don't believe that God cares if we say "Oh my God" or "Jesus Christ". I think there are bigger issues for the both of them.
And I don't mind about the people that think I'm wrong. They are entitled to hold on to what ever belief carries them through. Someday, we'll all know for sure.
