Virgo is the sixth sign of the Zodiac. It is a mutable, earth sign. Its ruler is mercury.
Virgos as a rule are neat and tidy with a place for everything and everything in its place.Cleanliness can be an obsession.Remarkable powers of analysis and a fine sense of discrimination characterise a virgo. They have a penchant for perfection and this can make them very critical of others. They can be so acutely critical that the other person feels the lash. They are orderly, methodical and careful planners who can carry out a project to perfection. To strictly follow the rules is another virgo trait. They are said to be endowed with great memories.
So Virgo is not all that stupid as you seem to think.I also do not understand what has given you the idea that one has to stay a virgin if one is a virgo. It is just that in some very few virgos the obsession for cleanliness may increase to such an extent that they dislike to be touched by other people. Some of these virgos may therefore not like to marry. That is all.

Actually, the original meaning of Virgo was associated with the Goddess Vesta and meant the High Priestesses and "maidens" of the Temples.
Yes, there was a "Vestal Virgin" that was revered as being holy and sacred. And yes, they were virginal but this was not the main meaning or focus. They were revered in all aspects of their life.
From Wikipedia:
In Ancient Rome, the Vestal Virgins (sacerdos Vestalis), were the virgin holy priestesses of Vesta, the goddess of the hearth. Their primary task was to maintain the sacred fire of Vesta. The Vestal duty brought great honor and afforded greater privileges to women who served in that role. They were the only female priests within the Roman religious system.
If you do some research on the Vestal Virgins, they were considered sacred to the Goddess Vesta
In an era when religion was rich in pagentry, the awesome presence of the Vestals was required innumerous public ceremonies. They alone were allowed to throw ritual straw figurines called Argei, into the Tiber on May 15. In June, they gathered grain and fashioned salty cakes for the Vestalia, Vesta's festival. They guarded important state documents; and in national crises the advisory power of the Senior Vestal, the Virgo Vestalis Maxima, was undisputed. Yet the long years had pleasing moments too, in the form of privileged seats at the theatre and frequent dinner parties where the menu featured many delicacies...
or another site:
They were selected from distinguished patrician families at an age from three to ten, and such appointments were considered a top honor for any family to receive. They each served thirty years, the first ten years as novices, then ten years as actual vestal virgins, and finally ten years as supervisors responsible for training the novices. After the thirty years of duty they were released from their duties and could then maintain a private life, including the right to marry. For men, arranging a marriage with a former vestal virgin was highly prestigious, regardless of age or the ability to have children.
So don't consider "Virgo" as being "the Virgin", it truly means the archetype of the High Priestess, a very special and sacred woman revered and given to ritual and high ranking.
That's where the Astrological archetype came from, but it's been handed down to us as only "virgin" with all that implies now that we are in the 21st century

Virgo the Virgin, an earth sign, is the sixth sign of the tropical zodiac. The Sun on his annual journey shines in Virgo between Aug 22 and Sep 21, though it can vary depending on the year. The Sun in astrology stands for our inner nature, the stamp of our true character.
A mutable (fluid and changeable) sign, Virgo governs critical analysis, intellectual subtlety and service. Virgo people are inclined to be practical and industrious, yet adaptable, with a remarkable eye for detail. Virgo is an intellectual and discriminating feminine sign ruled by the magical trickster Mercury, the messenger of the gods.
The emblem of Virgo, a virgin holding sheaves of wheat in her hands, symbolises wisdom, garnered in the fields of experience. Like the true virgin, most Virgos are shy and, like a virgin waiting to give herself to the perfect lover, Virgo is also idealistic.
Disappointment, however, can harden you into a cynic and a skeptic. Virgo consequently becomes quite critical with self as well as circumstances, due to the effect of such disappointments on a sensitive and discriminating nature.
The planet Mercury, governing our intellect and communicative faculties, rules Virgo, where tradition also places the house of its exaltation, so Virgins have a truly intellectual, critical and analytical approach to life. Communication is important and you love books, magazines, and writing

No, of course not. The astonomical signs are goofy and even those who believe in astrology (I do not; I practice cartomancy myself, much more reliable :-) would not suggest that an Aquarius should spend his/her life lugging water, or that geminis should murder their siblings or that libras should go into weights and measures.
Please get real and get over it.
