Term limits on Representatives and Senators?

What are some reasons to put term limits on Representatives and Senators???

None. People have the right to vote for anyone they wish. In the latest Congressional election, a major campaign was launched to get rid of one of the biggest a***s in the House: namely, Jack Murtha. He won re-election. If his constituents are satisfied to have the idiot represent them, we others just have to live with it.

I don't think Representatives and Senators should have term limits.


It's different for the President, because they're at the most powerful single position in the government. The Executive Branch is a one-man show.

However, the Legislative Branch is a 500+ man show. Except for the Speaker of the House, and Majority/Minority leaders, no one person has a bigger say over someone else.


We elect in Senators for 6 years to Represent us. We elect a Representative for 2 years to Represent us. We elect a President for 4 years to lead us. Why put term limits on people who represent you?

term limits are pronounced as elections. human beings vote them in and vote them out. Here is the problem. All elected officials have as their number one project to get themselves reelected. They do so by "bringing jobs to the district" that translates to pork barrel money from the fed. They are subject to corruption, and spend our money on useless projects for each other so everyone gets money to help their reelection. Power corrupts and total power corrupts totally. The founders of the country never envisioned lifetime representatives. Their service was a burden to them today it is a lifetime of perks and money.

None. We don't need term limits - we have terms. If a majority of voters want to send the person back, that's democracy. If they don't, all they have to do is vote him out.
