Would you do the Presidential debates like American Idol? They can't debate intelligently then get eliminated

We have got to do something differently to get more young people involved in & voting in the political arena.

Maybe not really eliminate candidates for running, but offer this debate option & those who participate will get more press or on air time to discuss real issues.

I think something does need to be done differently so that more people are interested in voting but don't know if elimination the way American Idol does it would be the right away, what about the people who do care about politics that don't own a phone?

Actually, no. I enjoy watching the debates and then making my decision on who to vote for based on how eloquently they answer questions, what their stand on issues are, and overall how I well they can or cannot improve our country. Being a good debater shows only a part of how someone might do in the presidency. For me, the debates are more informational then they are about scoring points for etiquette.

The candidates must be screened like the American Idol so that the poor performers will be eliminated.

LOL You are being idealistic here. We would have no contestants then. None of them debate intelligently. The are politicians. If/When you make it that far in politics, ---I just shake my head and roll my eyes. They would all be eliminated.

Another issue--No one person/president will please all the people all the time. So we learn to live with this.
