I guess the idea is that their society is older and more mature than ours, and has progressed beyond the primitive traditions that require people to wear clothes.

Due to traveling at the speed of light washing machines always malfunction they have been working on developing them for millions of years they thought they had it figured out with some special metal but the planet they were getting it from was struck by a asteroid that's why there always hunting asteroids to test for the metal & they outsourced there garment manufactoring out to the reptilians a few thousand years ago they forgot how to make there own & since they have been at war with the reptilians for the last 500 years they havent had anything to wear

Any civilized society might placed on clothing to guard them from the climate. incredibly a vessel, I think of, might have a hierarchy of types and might opt to coach one yet another rank. They have transcended to a higher level where clothing is not necessary, I too am at that level but society is not so I wear cloths to continue fighting my own personal war.
