Consider that, at other times, any homosexual PDA is frowned upon. This is an "In Yer Face" reaction to normal constraints.
Therein lies the expression of our desire for equality and respect.

Not everyone acts like that - some of us were brought up properly and simply go to have a good time with friends.
Most of the time people 'flaunting' their bodies are really just silly people doing it for atttention and the young kids with no sense of deciency!

Awww, I've never been to a pride parade. Of course if I did go I wouldn't be flaunting my (hahaha) *sexy* body. No one would want to see that. =)
And I know a lot of us in the community are embarrassed by that behavior of our fellow homosexuals, but I'm not. I envy their courage. I'd never have the guts to even walk in a parade in front of a crowd like that, let alone do it half naked. They are stronger than I.

Um, not everyone's doing that. Not even most people are doing that. Many people are marching in Dockers. I'm a woman, and I usually march in sundresses. Then again, nobody wants to see my body.

My guess is that it's because eyecandy draws more press than regular Joes who're going about their daily lives and just happen to join the pride parade.

HAh. to quote Queer As Folk...
"Gay pride has never been about pride."
It's about saying one big F*** YOU! to the world.
To say, "this is us - and there's NOTHING you can do about it."
Even though, of course, this is not us, this is a freakshow.
Oh well.
I get numbers.
I get costumes.
I get happy.
Yes. It makes me feel *happy* about being gay!
So who's complaining.
Live and let live!
