Did the show last night explain why there was two groups of Darma people??? Or why the other group was expelled from the other group that was gased??? My plot twist would have been that the girlfriend that sent the parachute girl would have been desmonds other girlfriend in the parachute, whom dessy would have married had he not gone into the Monistery.

Alpert never gave Locke the tape recorder, Locke took it himself (notice the shocked look Alpert had when Ben mentioned it).
Naomi is looking for Desmond, NOT a downed plane.
Jacob is NOT the guy little Ben met in the jungle. That guy was Richard Alpert. Which brings up why it looks like Alpert aged a lot slower than Ben.
Melissa is right, there was only one Dharma group. That group was who Ben's father was with and ended up getting exterminated. Ben went with the Hostiles the day he went through the perimeter.

There was only one Darma group. The other group of people were already there when Darma came to the island. That's why they wanted to get rid of the Darma group. Once they found out Ben hated the Darma group (when he ran away to find his mom), they used him to help plan the attack on Darma with the deadly gas.
I'm sure anything is possible about the other girlfriend coming there. There are so many twists to this story. I guess that's why I'm hooked.

The other group was called the Hostiles. The Hostiles were there BEFORE the Dharma people got there! Ben met 'Richard" someone from this group years before when he was a child and trying to find his dead mother in the jungle.
Funny thing though- Richard from Ben's childhood and Richard from now hasn't aged a bit--only shaved off his beard. This is the same guy that gave Locke the taperecorder that he in turn gave Sawyer after Sawyer killed Locke's father.
Ben has hangups about his mother dying giving childbirth and about his awful father.
The chick that parachuted in is from a ship that was looking for the downed plane. (they found it in a trench in the ocean and all the passengers/survivors bodies were still there)
Kind of sounds like what Locke's dad thought--they are all dead and the island is hell!

Ben was part of the Dharma Group (came w/his father). The "Others" were actually people living on the Island, but the Dharma Group didn't know where they came from. Ben hated living at the Dharma Group, hated his father, so he joined the Others. The "Jacob" he was talking about was the guy he met in the jungle. The only thing that confused me and a friend who was also watching was that a guy who looked like Jacob was also in the camp when Locke was there, and looked at Ben like he was crazy when he said he and Locke were going to see Jacob.
FYI: I still can't stand Jack. Or his new bimbo, Juliet.

They are writing themselves into corners, then, by pure bravura, writing themselves out. it's a virtuoso performance. But it leaves an emptiness at the core of this show. I haven't thought it delivered since season 1.
