I think not; China, Russia and USA will be the top three by my opinion... Britain won't get more than 5 Gold medals....

No because we have no encouragement of sport at grass roots level. Competitiveness is being bred out of the National Curriculem. The countries you mentioned have an active sports policy and promising young athletes are creamed off the top of the pile at school age and given sporting scolarships to nurture and improve their talent, and then go on to represent their countries at their chosen sport.
Over here we teach our kids the wishy washy idea that there are no winners or losers. Competitive sports are not taught anymore because being on the losing team is a nasty experience. Yes it is but losing from time to time makes you want to try harder to win next time. We are breeding a nation of losers.

Lord Coe has sent out a special invitation to all the Judges in China and we are looking at getting the Importing some new British citizens. Mike Phelps, Bolt, Clay, The Kenyan male and female long distance runners. The success of our team has really stimulated finance and all sports are going to get a boost. I think uk will finish 3rd or fourth. I think Australia will do well and i think the USA will do well. China will struggle this time. The only thing i would hope is that they don't put on a show like the pathetic and over the top politically correct show that was put on during the eight minutes and the 2012 party. this is London, Britain made up of many cultures but the games is about like china greece its about what makes the UK its history and contribution to sport. The show should be about the various parts of the uk. and what it is to be a londoner.

No, we won't win - China, the US and Australia usually do a lot better than us. However, we usually get more than 5 golds. We got 9 in 2004 making us joint 9th place with South Korea and 11 in 2000, again making us joint 9th with Cuba. If the sports people were in the home nation that usually means they perform better.

A true gent is a sad excuse for a Brit.

The countries you mention have far more people to choose from than we do. And more of our taxes go towards health and education, where as the other nations seem to put more into sport (at the higher level, not in general.).

A gold medal for some countries is seen as a status symbol, something to brag about. Our Nhs is our status symbol, who needs Gold. What happened to competing being the most important thing. Mick

Russia isn't actually that good anymore. And the Romanians are the top for gymnastics, or the Japanese, or the Koreans. Britain has a fair chance - one of our younger athletes won the world junior golds in 100m and 200m.

No, we've already lost it by £20 Billion and will still be paying for it in 100 years time. The whole thing is a waste of space now.
