You know how stars eventually die...and the southern cross is on alot of flags...well what would happen if one or all of the stars of the southern cross died?

There are 25 stars in the Crux constellation, also known as the Southern Cross.

The closest visible star of Crux is γ Cru A, which is 88 light years from Earth.

Thus, if it died now, then it would take 88 years for us to find out about it. By then, Australia, New Zealand, Papua Guinea, Samoa, and Brazil might have already changed their flags.

Actually - Brazil has the little fifth star on the wrong side if you look closely!

Here in NZ we would just change the flag to show 3 stars. Ahh..the Southern Triangle
