If you're looking for polystyrene foam in large sheets, then a home improvement store (the type that sells wood and sinks all kinds of things for one's house) would be best.

If you're looking for the small sheets, or for shapes, then a craft and/or hobby store should have various types, though they'd be more expensive.

Or you could use some of the polystyrene foam packing material shapes that come in boxes around larger products these days.

(there's more on polystyrene foams on this page at my site if you want to check it out:

... click on the subcategory called *TYPES OF POLYSTYRENE & DEFINITIONS*, under Plastics)

well that depends on the foam. the white kind that is NOT true Styrofoam just get one of the shapers, something like a cheese grater that guys that do surfboards do. body shop supply houses carry them for working bondo. the blue real brand name Styrofoam is different. it has a thin layer of plastic over it, by some means you must take this plastic off, then shape it the same way. for this to work best, be sure to put down a plastic water barrier between the foam and the floor, or else it will wick up water and eventually ruin the job.
