I have too many video (movie) files in my computer. If I reinstall the computer, I have to copy all the video files in CD otherwise all video files will go away. Is there any way to save them within the hard-disk? They should not be deleted during reinstallation.

If you have two partitions on your hdd (C:\; D:\;E:\) You can move the video fies to a drive where is NOT your OS (). Re-installation is made on the system drive. in most cases in C:drive but you can specify other drive. so move the files and re-install. there is an option in Window XP to install and repair. This Repair is more like new installation but you don't loose anything. All installed prgrams will be there, all files too. But some times there is a problem with registry structure and some applications installed before reinstallation may not work

Go with froggie and n_k_niko suggestion. That's the most economical way to save your video files if you often reinstall your OS.

yes but you have to add a partition to your drive and move them all there -

create a D drive to place them, then reinstall only your c drive

or better yet buy an extra hard drive and REALLY keep them separate

good luck
