You'll have to check your bios by pressing f-10, etc depending on what brand of comp you're using, find your boot parameters ie. boot from D: C: etc, see if it's booting from hard drive, if it is it's booting correctly, in that case if you can't fix it from bios you'll prob need a restore disk.

Need more info. Do you see anything on the screen? If not, make sure your monitor is plugged in to your computer. If you have a video card, be sure the monitor is plugged into THAT and not the onboard video port on the motherboard.
If the screen works ok, what happens after you turn the power on? Do you see ANYTHING? Like the startup black screen that shows your processor and memory and "press ESC for BIOS" or whatever? If you can get that far, you should be able to force the computer to boot into Safe Mode (usually by pressing F8 during startup but it can differ). In safe mode, you can troubleshoot things that may prevent the computer from starting up normally.

with this, i have a couple of answers for u, depending on wah type of laptop u have...listen up.
for MACs- if u have no video(blank screen) then its ur motherboard dude..replace it.
if u have no backlight then it could be ur inverter or ur motherboard...
if u get no response at all then that's power failure so replace ur motherboard
for PCs- if u have no video then its either ur memory stick or ur cpu...check both.
if u have no backlight then its ur inverter...replace it
if u get no response at all then that's power failure so replace ur motherboard
