They are doing a prequel to Star Trek. I was wondering if they could bring back any of the former stars. It would be great to see Shatner again in the uniform. Make-up and computer generated graphics could make it work.

First of all, it will be the 11th Star Trek movie, not the 9th. At the present time, none of the casting has been set in stone, but I doubt you will see any of the original actors and actresses reprise their roles. It is always possible that you might see them in a cameo, but nothing has been announced.

From the articles I've read, new actors will be taking on the roles of Kirk and Spock, and possibly even Bones. However, William Shatner and Leonard Nemoy have a say in the casting and character development.
But who knows? If they wanted to put in a time travel story, whose to say it couldn't happen.

Considering old age and death has over taken all of them, it might be a bit hard.
