This is the one movie that I would love to see a sequel or prequel to. I heard there was one in the works a few years ago but nothing ever came of it. What's the deal?

...a few years ago, reportedly Sandra Bullock was attached to star in a proposed sequel to "Leon"; in the film, Matilda, now schooled and mature, yet still pining over her lost love, travels to Europe, in search of Leon's lineage. Upon return to the states, and once again under the tutilage of Danny Aiello's character, she takes up Leon's profession as a 'cleaner'.
...doesn't seem like a whole lot to make a movie of, and still reach, let alone even touch the intensity of the original; I undeerstand that the idea is still on the boards, but so far, no one's been quick to pick it up and run with it.

The Professional Sequel

it'd be terrible if there ever was one. leon died at the end of the professional and matilda probably grew up to be a normal girl.
also all the villains died, so there'd be no link to a sequel.
you probably couldn't get natalie portman to come back for it either.
