I'm organising our school girls soccer team. One girl (who was self appointed captain) doesn't even make it to practices, smokes, drinks a lot and obese!

Anyway, I am organising it. Although she has done nothing, she still claims to be captain.

I talked to our school sports coordinator about this situation and she said that "Nicole is having 'family issues'".

We all have problems. No one lives in a perfect world! My mother married an abusive alcoholic and I was sexually abuse and raped and I've been through a hell of a life. I don't bring it to school though.

Can anyone really use this as an excuse? Don't we all have issues? No one has a perfect life!

Yes you are right. Stand strong and dont give in. Everyone has issues!!! Some people learn from it and dont let it affect other parts of their life. Others think that the world owe them something and want the world to pity them. as if their situation is more "unique or special" than the rest of the world and now they deserve special attention. That is bullsh*t .

I really feel for her , but we all have problems and life is hard , we have to deal with our problems, why is she being singled out. Maybe the best way of dealing with her problems will be lead a normal life. She has to earn the right to be respected as captain , the fact that she is having problems doesnt automatically promote her to captain without her havin to do a thing. She has a real loser attitude

We all have some excess baggage in our life and the trick is to set it aside so it doesn't drown us in our daily lives. We all have different coping capacities so some are able to live more fulfilling lives without being burdened by our tragedies.I think the coach is selling the team short based on her pity ( for lack of a better word) for this girl. The spot of captain should have been determined by the entire team in a nomination and vote.Someone whose life is "filled with family issues" may not be able to make the commitment to the team. Merit should count for something.Nicole is already dividing the team and you haven't had a game yet.It will be a long season.

Yes, we all have problems, some are worse then others... If someone tells you that they don't well you and I both know their lying. How people cope with their problems is an entirely different thing, some exercise, some medicate. It's unfortunate that's she's self-medicating, but no one can help her but herself, one day she will realize that not only is her family having problems, but thanks to the booze and drugs now she is. Stay strong, you're the kinda people like her need to look up to.

If shes going to be a absentee to say all the time then you should appoint yourself captain. I go to war but I don't let my issues get to me there. She shouldn't let her issues get to her or to you. So honestly keep on doing those bicycle kicks and around-the-worlds'. Ignore her!

I think you're really strong.Having been through troubles, try to understand her and i guess it's not about being the captain, it's about respect. I'm being incoherent but i hope you get what i'm saying.
