"That the government should not fund major sporting events." Negative 3rd speaker?

Ok i have a debate and i am negative 3rd speaker. What evidence and information can i use to win the debate?
THAT THE VICTORIAN GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT FUND MAJOR SPORTING EVENTS.
speech must go for 4-5 minutes. Please help me!

Well, i think that the Victorian government should not fund major sporting events because this money could go to the poor and put into schools and infrastructure. They could put the money into my school, which had recently gotten a building burnt down.

Sporting events such as The Olympics and the World Cup in soccer, would be hard pressed to exist without governmental subsity. Since you will be making a dissenting argument, you will thus have to find a way to reconcile a country's choice to not participate in these high profile demonstrations of national pride.

A country as economically blessed as the US could possibly pull off an Olympic team wholly funded through private donations. But the games would suffer the loss of untold teams from countries that one only hears about after natural disaster or during The Olympiad. In my opinion, this would be a net loss for one of the few exercises in brotherhood left to an increasingly divided and partisan world.
