Gilly is a legend and still would have had a great innings regardless if he used the squash ball or not. I don't believe it is cheating, what is the difference between Gilly putting a squash ball in his glove to bowlers having longer spikes on the bottom of their shoes to improve their grip on the ground.
Also I am gettting so sick of everyone giving s**t to us Australians, we won fair and square and everybody else needs to stop looking for pathetic reasons to take the victory away from us. GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont think the ICC now accepts this as legal. They remain neutral about this. I wonder why Michael Holding and Greg Chappel don't even comment on Gilly's squash ball. They made it a big problem when Sri Lanka rested three key players against the Au-cheat-ssies. And don't forget, the Sri Lankan team might need some getting-used to if they are to use squash balls , which they wouldn't do as they are naturally talented, because Gilly has been using the squash ball for quite a while now. Maybe the whole team.. Aussies' bats also must be checked to see whether they are graphite plated. Remember Ponting's bat? Oh god these Aussies.. No wonder these cheaters won three consecutive world cups. As long as they focus on these cheap ways to win games, they can win "illegitimate" world cups. The only 'real" world cup the Aussies won was the first one.

Even Sri Lankan players and cricket officials do not claim that the use of squash ball was illegal. One of the official of Sri Lankan cricket board had only stated that use of squash ball by Gilchrist was unfair and that the matter will be taken up with ICC.
Just because the use of squash ball by Gilchrist clicked for him in one innings, it does not mean that it will give the same results in all the games.

iam not sure why he put a squash ball in is batting glove, if that helped in getting a better grip of the bat, then its unfair, ICC has no regulations regarding that, ICC just specifies the size, type and colour of gloves to be used by batsman
