I am after really romantic songs but not the usual suspects - you know Shania, Whitney Houston, that guy who sings Anything I do, I do it for you, vomit vomit...

There's a song that was written by Gary Baker called "These Arms." It's a very pretty ballad. All-4-One recorded the song as well as the group "Baker & Myers". The Baker & Myers version isn't so "Poppish" whereas All-4-One added a little more "contemporary pop" to it. Click on the link and you can listen to it. You may have heard it before. He's the same one who wrote "I Swear" and "I'm Already There" which I believe were his most current hits in the U.S.

I'm getting married next summer. We're playing "Walk the Line"- Johnny Cash. A few other good ones are:
Open Arms- Journey
Thank You- Led Zepplin (my sis played at hers)
Leather and Lace- Don Henley & Stevie Nicks ( my best friend played at hers)

Outside the square? Boy, you really are thinking outside the box! :-) LOL!
Try

I'll Stand By You (the original Pretenders version, not the Carrie Underwood version, though Carrie does good).

We danced to "Missing you" from the 'romeo and julet' soundtrack. (the one directed by Baz Lurmann, with DiCaprio and Danes)
Nice, slow, pretty piano, good string section.

Kinda moody though...

You might try some albums by artists with acoustic guitar and minimal singing; makes for good background music, laid back kind of stuff.

Dashboard Confessional's "Stolen" is a beautiful but not sappy song. Also think about Coldplay's "Yellow".

my wedding song was "moonlight serenade" by the glenn miller orchestra. liked it cuz there is no whiny singing. big band music has tons of romantic stuff.
