Was she funny? what type of music did she play and did she do acting as well? Is she a good portrayal for female celebrities in the 1930's?

Fania Borach is better known as Fanny Brice was born on October 29 1891 in New York City, New York and died on May 29 1951 at the age 59. Most famous for radio work, she also was a comedian, singer,theatre, film actress and entertainer. Her movies include - My Man [1928], Be Yourself [1930] and Everybody Sings [1938] with Judy Garland. Barbra Streisand movie "Funny Girl' is based on her life.

There is a book about her life called "The Fabulous Fanny".

Funny Girl was based on her. She was a comedienne in vaudeville, and succeeded in a field normally reserved for men (not a lot of women were on vaudeville for their brains).

As for female celebrities in the 30's, I'm not entirely sure. She did get into movies during that time, and I'm sure enjoyed some fame.

Any research into Ziegfeld Follies will catch her name, i'm sure.
