Coming from Singapore, most employers are always on the paper chase. They view that someone with higher qualifications i.e have a degree is better suited than someone who doesn't. I have only a diploma and I do qualify to enter university. However, $ is a bit of a problem. So when I tell people or potential employers that I may not further my education, they give a raised eyebrow and some comment that with a degree, my prospects at employment would be much better! So any views that would help make a better decision as to whether I should further my studies or continue working? (I am already employed in a law firm with my diploma in law. Thought of doing a law degree though)

I got my degree by part time after I started work for 2 years. In certain fields, especially professional occupations, there are minimun requirement, such as Accountant, you need a Degree in Accounting or a Professional certificate like ACCA.
Likewise, you can never be a lawyer with only Diploma in Law. Of course, it will be fine if you don't intend to be a lawyer.

But the real dilemma here is, that sometimes you need the degree to get your foot in the door, because employers are gonna look at that first! As far as proving you are a good and hard worker, you'll have to prove it when you get hired! Especially in the field you are in !
The one thing you don't want to do is let them know that you are not interested in furthering your education, that will surely turn them off as potential employers!

A good education only ensure a good stepping stone.
After that its all on yourself. You do not really need that diploma or degree later in your working life because your employers will be looking at your work performances, attitude, experiences, EQ, confidence, contacts, etc.
Do you think you will still go around showing your degree even at 40 years old?

Education is very important for our existence and development. It is obvious that people cannot get a good job without qualifications, knowledge provided by education. Educated people are always respected in any society. Without education, I think, it is very difficult for a person to have access to success and money. However, there are no rules without exception. Someone with little education also finds the way to success and money. I am always in favor of the idea that education is the sure road to success and money.

i think this purely depends on what job fields are you looking into. its not necessary for some careers, but still, the more the better. i've met people who never went to college and still make lots of money and did a better job than some that went to college. so generally, by going to college does not necessarily mean that it makes everyone smarter or better.
but do a research if the career you chose necessariy need a degree or not. if its pretty much necessary then you should get a degree...even if it doesnt make any differences to you.
