I hesitate to ask my doctor anything because she never gives a very direct answer and I always feel as if she's being a tad condescending in her reply. I don't feel my little girl moving quite as much as she used to. It is more like rolling around instead of kicks now, which I understand is probably because the poor thing is so cramped in there! I've started to worry about her more now than ever before. We're so close to the end and I'm so fearful that may be I'm missing signs that something is wrong. Oh, also I did not have my period for 3 months prior to getting pregnant. My doctor felt my uterus and guessed me at 10 wks. I had a dating sonogram that put me at 7 wks. Is it possible the ultrasound was wrong and I'm overdue and as a result I'm running out of amniotic fluid? Ah! The paranoia! Please tell me your experiences with fetal movement and also accuracy of ultrasound!

P.S. The only reason I doubt the accuracy of the amazing technology of ultrasound is because I was foolish and didn't drink my water an HOUR before. The technician was annoyed and said it was quite blurry, but they couldn't fit me in later.

You are right about why the baby doesn't move as much (see... that maternal instinct is kicking in already!). She can't do flips anymore, just small punches and kicks.

Usually a due date is questioned when the drs date and ultrasound are more than 2 weeks off. You might want to get a second opinion if your ins. allows this and it concerns you. By this point however, it would be a matter of rereading the ultrasound vs. going by your measurements. Have you thougt about changing providers (late in the game, but you are still in for the big event!) You will only have more questions as you near your date -- can you afford to feel pushed aside?

As far as the amniotic fluid... it replaces itself every 24 hours. Drink your water, but make sure you are getting some electrolytes (have some honey or lemon). This will help with balanced fluid retention.

Hang in there... you really are almost there!

the dating is fine, you are not overdue. 7 wk ultrasounds are very accurate, even with an empty bladder. you really cant mistake a 10 wk for a 7 wk fetus, no way.
As for the movement, always be concerned about this. sure, she may have less room but this can also be a sign that there is a problem and you need to be delivered. you sound as though you are worried also. call the labor and delivery floor at the hospital where you will be delivering and tell them the baby is not moving well. they may have you come in for a non-stress test and ultrasound. usually, everything will be fine. but it can also be a sign of an impending fetal demise or stillbirth-that is why it is taken seriously. call tonight for reassurance at the very least. they will tell you how to track her movements

Ultrasounds at that age are incredibly accurate so I would think that you are probably right around 37 weeks. You are right about the baby being too cramped to move, the rolling is normal. Many babies tend to be less acrobatic when they get bigger. You are not losing amniotic fluid, unless you have a leak, and you would know. Don't hesitate to ask your doctor, if she starts to sound condescending, simply ask like this, "I know you must hear the same questions hundreds of times a day, since I'm only in the office for my appointment I'm afraid I'll have to ask you again...My baby isn't moving as much, just kindof rollling around, is this because he is getting so big?" That will help remind her with humor that while this is her millionth baby, it is only your first. You are doing fine, and the end is near. Best wishes.

talk to your doctor or call the nurse at the office.one thing i do know from my pregnancy's is that...after you eat, lay down on your left side and count how many times your baby moves. do this a few times and see if the movement is slowing down any. also, you are far enough along where the baby is so big that they don't have as much room to move around. and, ultrasounds can be off by like a couple of weeks either way. and, my daughter didn't have to drink water to do the ultrasound...i didn't think you had to do that anymore.

Well, you sound really concerned. I would suggest going to the hospital. I'm sure it's nothing, but you would feel at ease if you found out that everything was ok. Babies usually move less in the later months because they run out of room. But you never know unless you see for yourself. Go to the er and tell them that you havent' felt your baby move in a while and you wanted to be sure everything was ok. They'll send you to labor and delivery and hook you up to some moniters and stuff. They may also do an ultra sound, to check the fluid if you tell them you suspect you may be over due. They'll pretty much do anything to put your mind at ease because stress on you is no good for the baby!!! Good luck!

yes, babies have less room to move, but PLEASE count your kicks after you eat or have a glass of milk. you baby should move at least 10 times in an hour. If not go to the ER or contact your doctor. Follow your instincts. My baby stopped moving at 31weeks but I though she just had less room to move. I wish I had counted her kicks and perhaps I would have known something was wrong.
