Think of this scenario.
I am a person you know (e.g. friend, relative) and is quite close to.

I want to introduce a friend to you.

I told you he is gay.

Now, you look at the person. What is your impression?
(e.g. what he looks like, rich/poor, charming, ugly etc)

I have no problem with gay----Not that I am a gay or indulge in their act, but purely reacting like a human to another of the same species. Beneath the skin, we are the same in every respect.
