Pentiums are designed to run hot. However, if noise is a problem, you can either
1. Buy a new fan. The stock fans are often horrible.
2. Clean up your system. Make sure your system is free of dust, and clean up your wiring for better airflow.

Yes! If you're qualified,(that is if you feel comfortable doing it), with your Pc off,( AND unplugged!), open it up.Observe, and listen to the Cpu fan, the power supply fan, and,(if you have one), the video card fan, and the case fans. See,(and hear), if there's a problem. Intel processors as a rule run pretty warm, you can look on Intel's site for the actual operating temperature, if you know the cpu's spec's. If you don't, and don't know what you're looking for......go to CPUID.com, download CPU-Z, and run it,(it's cool no spyware, no problems!). It will tell you EXACTLY what's inside your computer! Also on Hardwaresecrets.com you can go to the cpu tab at top,(or is that motherboard?),and download a free utility that tells you the temperature of your cpu,(and inside temperature of your computer, plus the rpm speed of your cpu fan, system fans, etc.) Many motherboards have a built in utility when you access BIOS,(press F1, or Delete when the computer starts up to access BIOS). You may need to remove the cpu fan, and heatsink, and clean the cpu, and install fresh thermal heatsink paste,(BE sure it's unplugged, the PSU can shock you, the computer itself only uses 12 volts,[3.3V,5V, and 12 Volts],and be sure to de-static yourself by touching some metal part of the computer, and having nice clean hands) You may also need to spend about 20 bucks, and get another cpu fan,(a nice quiet one!) See if the case fans are 'crappin' out. I hope we're performanin' maintenance, as in making sure our computer is nice and clean inside? We are right?
