It doesn't happen too often, but when I'm asleep sometimes, it's like I half-wake up and can't breathe nor move. It's like my whole body goes completely stiff, and feels like my mind is awake (sometimes I can even open my eyes) but like my body is still asleep.

I'm 20, and I get my tonsils out next week due to having constant sore throats, trouble breathing while I sleep, and never feeling rested (I am always exhausted). I'm sure getting them out will help with this weird sleeping thing I have, and I plan to ask the doctor about it, but was just wondering if anyone would have any ideas about what I might be experiencing.

We once thought maybe they were seizures as a side effect of one of the meds I'm on (Wellbutrin XL) and I have had one in the daytime before. Or does it sound more like sleep apnea?

Thanks for any feedback!

Sounds to me like a condition called sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is when your body's internal mechanism that helps us fall into deep sleep overacts as you are trying to wake up. With sleep apnea, one generally wakes up gasping for air. Also, have you ever been told that you snore excessively? Do you ever wake with a bad headache? If so, the headache is due to the lack of oxygen to the brain. Sleep apnea is generally due to the obstruction of your airway either by your tonsils, your tongue, or by your uvula (that's the pointed thing that hangs down from the roof of your mouth just before you get to your throat). Since you are having a tonsillectomy done, I would mention it to the ENT surgeon prior to the operation . Maybe he could do a 2 for 1 special,or could order a sleep study test for you. Hope this helps, and good luck.

I wasn't however I had such a lot drawback while I spread out my Yahoo e mail that I might now not get to my reply. I have a brand new puppy too, Annabelle_Ant. But I could not uncover Ants on-line. I responded a couple of questions for the entire well it did me. My Pug is asleep as ordinary, however my Ant continues to be conscious. I responded a couple of of Angie's P&S questions in these days, however have now not talked to her. Any thought what's going on in these days with Yahoo?? If you spot Sweet Judy, please inform her I stated "Hi! And that I overlooked her in these days." Thank you and well success discovering the Ants! :-)

Run it by your dr. Maybe a trip to a sleep doctor is in order.
