Awesome question! I have three answers, one for each "genre."
In my personal life: An amazingly smart, hot, and witty FTM at Dinah Shore who completely changed my life, and made me feel beautiful and wonderful.
In my academic life: Leslie Feinberg, who came to speak on my campus in undergrad.
In my work life: Suzanne Westenhofer and Renee O'Connor at the Dinah Shore Weekend.

The list is so long I could not write it down..almost all these people are now dead...AIDS has been a true devastation in my life. At one time, I was very well known on the entire East Coast, knew so many common and famous people...Sad, I miss so very many of these dear souls. And, along the way, I have met some very famous "stars" of stage and screen due to my "job." So many, many dear souls. And let's face it, if I were not gay, I would not have the best lover anyone could dream of....and I do have just that. I am a very lucky man...and it is because I am gay. I would not trade anyone's life for mine. It has been very rich and rewarding. I truly hope yours has been the same.

My first homosexual relationship ... he opened my eyes to the world. I was a little naive about things. The things he desired, the people he wanted to associate with for whatever reasons. I made it happen for me in a sincere and honest way. I empowered myself for the better. I'm sure he's still out there living vicariously through other peoples dreams and money.
There are so many people ... politicians, movie stars, billionaires, community organizers .. etc. So many doors have been open to me partly because of my being homosexual, and partly to a my mindset and intellect. Everything equals out.

Hey now, remember there's a B and T after the GL. I'd say my best friend Dana. I don't know if I would really have been interested in transexuals otherwise, but I am glad for the friends I have made within T-girl circles.

Aside from my wife, who was the first woman I flirted with (and pretty much the last, too!), I would have a very long list. My wife's friends who have also become mine, several of my hometown friends who I met because of a bisexual group, the other writers at the LGBT magazines I wrote for....
Oh, and Joan Nestle, the writer and chronicler of butch/femme in the Fifties.

My ex girlfriend. We're so different that if we both weren't lesbians we never would have crossed paths. And considering she's my best friend I'd say my life would have been significantly poorer with her.

There are a lot of people, but I would have to say my current bf and my ex. My ex is now one of my best friends in the world. My current and I are so different, he's really opening up my eyes to so many things, it's great.

I met a guy, purely by chance.
Some of his life experiences parallel mine, despite our age difference.
With his brutal charm, wise words and off-beat humour he's brightened my outlook on life.
He's a sarcastic behindal zone at times and despises boiled oats, but he's pretty good with Haiku, so we're cool.
