My PC was recently purchased through eBay and is somewhat less powerfual than I estimated. Does anyone have a similar PC, or even the same model, and know if it is possible to upgrade my processor to a Core2 Duo? Or even Core2 Extreme? I'm not sure what my motherboard is capable of.

The new XPS 410 have C2D in them.

But OEMs are fond of proprietary components. Chances are that you have the same motherboard as the latest model but your BIOS may be different and does not support C2D. Better verify w/ Dell.

I'm not sure about Dell's policy towards chips with the Dell XPS 410, but typically, processor's are removable. I have heard instances of when manufacturers would physically glue processor chips to the mobo, but usually only in slim line pc's and other form factors. When you take out the processor, make sure not to damage any pins in the process.

well.. actually it depends on what type of motherboard the system use. its a wise thing if you send and email to dell or ask the shop where you buy the system.
