"Possible Possum" was a title of a Terrytoons studios tv cartoon segment in the late 1960s. Straw hat-wearing Possible Possum and his backwoods friends Billy Bear in overalls, Owlysious Owl in bow tie, and Macon Mouse in a raccoon skin cap like Davy Crockett, usually hung around Mr. General's (human) General Store and got into adventures. Inspired by Walt Kelly's "Pogo" comic strip...without the political satire and caricatures of politicians in swamp animal form.
Lionel Wilson played the voice of every character in the cartoons. Possible Possum's catchphrase was "It's possible...It's possible."

Terrytoons was brought by various companies and is now owned by CBS who appear to have shelved Deputy Dawg, probably for it's (now considered) off coloured phrases such as "cotton picking' which isn't generally used these days.
You might be lucky and find it on bit torrent. I did get an episode or two for nostalgic reasons. As well as Muskie Muskrat and Vincent van Gopher there was Ty Coon.

Are you sure you aren't thinking about a Midsummer Nights Dream by Shakespeare? There was a cartoon version of it. In the play, Puck is commanded out of spite to find a flower in a distant land by Oberon to make Titania fall in love with something ugly (who Oberon engineers to be 'Bottom', whom he gives an asses head to).

Sounds to me like it might be the old Deputy Dawg Show.
All characters including a 'possum and Deputy Dawg had a heavy southern drawl, y'all.

I know what you are talking about. It was a "Terrytoon" from the sixties, the "Deputy Dawg" era. It was about a bunch of hillbillies. I cannot recall the name however. Try going to toontracker.com.
