It's a very hard choice. There is so many things that deserve the honor of be the most amazing invention/technology... But I agree with you and with S/S: the camera, the airplane and the cell telephone. And I would add another one: the computer and the Internet. But if you look carefully, all of these inventions have a mixture of technologies, ancient and recent, like the lenses, the translaters, transformers or converters of types of energy, and, of course, the wheel, and by extension the circular motion. Personally, I enjoy enormously photography, specially the traditional one. In this one you are the artist, not the computer (as it is with digital photography), because you can control the amount of light, the aperture of the lens, the speed of shutter, and the infinite combinations of them, to get the best picture. I'm a fanatic of natural things, and for me always is a challenge obtain the precise moment when the action occurs, and the real way it occurs, without special effects or erasing the mistakes (like in Adobe Photoshop). Well, this is me, my opinion.

I think cameras are amazing as well. The photos I have of my kids and my parents and other times of my life are irreplaceable.
I'm going to have to say the internet. I was actually chatting with someone in Iraq the other day. How amazing is that? I didn't even know that they had the internet there.
Global communication is the most amazing thing that's happened in many years as far as technology goes.
It astounds me!

I think the computer is the most amazing invention. Millions of people are now able to do things that people in the past had to pay people to do. Think about it - it has a calculator, entertainment, media-viewing, type-writer, web browser, email, spreadsheets, tax forms and filing, paint programs, photo editing, video editing, documentation and filing, filesharing, instant messaging, all built right in.

Harnessing and creation of electricity for use by man. Without electricity, running water would be limited to areas with gravity fed water sources; no lights at night without lighting a kerosene lantern; the cell phone, computer, etc mentioned would not work without available electrical power.
Thank electricity every time you flip a switch or flush your toilet.
My parents grew up without it, the changes to their life after electricity were dramatic--refrigerators that were large enough to use (they had a propane powered one in the late 1940s but it would not make ice and was very tiny). Indoor plumbing--no more using a hand pump or well bucket to get water to bathe or wash with or just to get a drink.
Television would not have impacted so many lives; unlike radios that could rely on hand cranked power, TV took too much energy. Street lighting, large stores would not be possible--imagine a Mall having to use only carbide or kerosene lanterns, and all the time, not just at night in order to see the merchandise. Electricity also dramatically pushed forward the industrial revolution. Steam and water power only went so far, steel mills, auto plants, any manufacturing process uses lots of electricity. Most foods on the grocery store shelf would not be produced in mass without electric power. Certainly could go on and on.

I would have to agree with the camera too.
A couple other favorites of mine are the airplane and telephone. How could something SO HEAVY defy gravity? And why is it that we can talk into a plastic thingy through wires/cords and another person anywhere in the world could hear us? Haha!
I've often been fascinated and marvelled at these things. :D

Everything from the wheel and fire to nanobots. My favorite, however, is the internet. No other technology offers the opportunity to relate to your fellow human beings in quite the same way. Immediate, personal communication between strangers which if used the right way could bring understanding to new levels around the globe.

I can not forget the day of Tsunami in my life. As I have earned enough money for my present generation I took a decision to help the society without expecting any monitory benefit to save the life. From the day We in India lost the life of 100,000 people in Gujarat earthquakes I was working to find the way to save the people from these types of disasters. For this purpose I went to several country and designed simple yet use full early warning system for earthquakes. When it was demonstrated first scientist refused to accept the usage of this equipment. But surprisingly this equipment helped me to issue the warning 2 hours before Tsunami struck our coast. But my warning was ignored. Now several leading scientist appreciated my inventions but do not want to certify the usage of this life saving equipments. Now I am running pillar to post to propagate the usage of my live saving inventions.

I think radio is the most amazing invention of all time. A device that uses electromagnetic waves to enable people to speak with one another across thousands of miles without wires.

Perhaps it not the most amazing, but think what you would do without indoor plumbing. I think that is the best invention. You can pour a glass of water to drink, make ice cubes, you can bathe, wash dishes, clean clothes, and most importantly, you can go to the bathroom in the privacy of your own home. We can't live without indoor plumbing!
