Narcissism describes the character trait of self love.

The word is derived from a Greek myth. Narcissus was a handsome Greek youth who rejected the desperate advances of the nymph Echo. As punishment, he was doomed to fall in love with his own reflection in a pool of water. Unable to consummate his love, Narcissus pined away and changed into the flower that bears his name, the narcissus.

Freud believed that some narcissism is an essential part of all of us from birth and was the first to use the term in the reference to psychology.[1].

Narcissism is the extreme love of self. The name is based on the Greek legend of a extremely handsome, young man who fell in love with his own reflection in a pool, starved and died, pining for himself.
A Narcissist sees things only in the terms of how things effects themselves - they are very self centered. Its only what s/he wants, needs, thinks that's important. Others are just an extention of their image of themselves. The narcissist believes they deserve the best, and everyone should be working towards getting them what they need.

A narcissist is someone who loves him/herself more than he/she would love other individuals. They're in love with their reflection, everything about themselves from head to toe. It also means that people with this personality trait is very self-centred, too.
