I am in the HS freshmen swimming team. I am the only one that isnt circumcised. My best friend said that i can train the foreskin to stay back by wearing something like a o-ring behind the head to keep it permemenantly retracted. I want to know if any one has done this, and if so what they used and if they can keep it retracted now, or if they used something else to keep it permenantly retracted and how long it took to train it to stay back. Or if they went to get circumcised intstead an how much it hurt to have it done how long it took to heal and how much it cost. If you are recently circumcised are u happy u did it or do u regret it. PLEASE no negative insulting comments.

Some guys can 'train it' to stay back all the time. But that kind of defeats the purpose of having a foreskin.

In response to the guy above, an uncircumcised guy isn't necessarily dirty down there. Just because you saw a dirty Chinese guy doesn't mean everyone else is. I'm uncircumcised and haven't had trouble keeping it clean.. You just slide it back and rub the head; it takes like 5 seconds

The reason you're the only one uncircumcised is because you're part of the 'transition' group. The United States is the only advanced nation that circumcises many newborns, but the rates are rapidly declining. There's a reason for that. In some states the circumcision rates have reached to as low as 14%.

On the upside, your parents didn't put you through this: =D

New studies have confirmed that circumcision reduces sensitivity and pleasure in the long run, since the head is bare and rubs all the time. It is also more difficult to masturbate after circumcision since you can't use the foreskin to rub the head, which is already lubricated. That's what the studies concluded:

If you're having any problems with your foreskin, shoot me an e-mail. Solutions are simple.

My recommendation is that you should enjoy what you have. Have confidence in yourself. If your friends see that you're shy about being uncircumcised, they're going to ridicule you for that. They'll see your weakspot. Otherwise, if they see that you like it and defend it, they're more likely to leave you alone. Confidence goes a long way. =) They may ask some questions if they're curious, and answer them truthfully. They don't know how it is to have one.

And to answer the HIV claim, the USA is the industrialized nation with the highest HIV rate , and guess what, we're the highest circumcising industrialized nation, too. Europeans have lower HIV rates than us; they don't circumcise. You can't compare a mountain to a bug; in Africa (where that 'study' was from they don't have sanitary conditions to wash).

Although most boys can fully retract their foreskins by the time they are your age, a significant proportion can't, so you are far from being alone. You should try to retract your foreskin at every opportunity (peeing, masturbating, shower or bath) and it will probably stretch over time until you can fully retract it without any pain or difficulty. It is important to do this as a partially retractable foreskin can cause pain during sex when it gets forced back further than it will comfortably go. Be careful not to tear the skin, as it will heal up tighter than before. I didn't know that, and my skin got tighter and eventually I had to be circumcised. But that should be a last resort, and there's every chance you can avoid it.

Some guys can "train" their foreskins to stay retracted, but this takes time (weeks to months) and is annoying; it also depends on how much foreskin one has, the less (shorter) foreskin his has, the easier it'll be. You don't want to put an o-ring or anything there, as that could cause swelling and then bad things could happen.

To "train" it to stay back I've heard you basically just need to make sure you keep it retracted as long as possible, which can be annoying due to erections and such. In the long run, it's generally not worth it. My opinion is to just live with your foreskin and don't worry about the opinions of others.

I would advise against circumcision (unless your foreskin isn't working normally) as there are lots of nerve endings in the foreskin that would be removed; these nerve endings appear to contribute to sexual sensitivity (see link 1). In addition, several studies have also indicated that the foreskin may contribute to the sexual satisfaction/pleasure of not only the man, but the woman as well (see links 2, 3, 4).

And as long as you keep it clean (see link 5) you can minimize/reduce a lot of future problems (see link 6) including many STDs and infections. Of course safe sex is very important as well.

So just be happy with what you have (if nothing's physically wrong). As long as your foreskin is working properly, you maintain good hygiene of the area, and you practice safe sex (when that arises), then it's probably better to not get circumcised. If anyone asks/bothers you, just tell them they don't know what they're missing, that you've never had any problems, and that you like it better the way you are.

I hope this has helped to reduce your anxiety. High school can be rough, but it's not so bad. And things only get better a little later on.

Strange as it may seem, YOU are the normal one! It is neither normal nor desirable to have a piece of your penis whacked off. And keeping it retracted all the time prevents it from doing its job, which is keeping the head of your penis in optimal condition.

Having a foreskin will not make you any less fast as a swimmer. And keeping it will make you a better lover in a few years. Be very, very grateful that your parents left you intact!

You shouldn't worry about looking slightly different to the boys on your swim squad. They do the exact same job they were intended to do either way.... but some of those boys will one day lament that they have no foreskin. (Others prolly don't even know at the moment that they ever had one ~ most boys who are circed were just babies at the time so they have no memory of it).

Your foreskin is designed by God to move around. Why do you think that a boy knows better? Your parents made the decision for you to leave it there and they made that decision in your best interests. I highly recommend that you learn to like your body.

I love swimming. Good choice. Breastroke is mine. How were those Phelps turns at teh recent world championships? Sensational.

You should not be worrying about this. Your penis is in its natural state just as you where created. A foreskin has many advantages. It adds to the good looks of your penis, it is a plus for masturbation, and it is okay. Be proud of what you got and sorry for all the other guys.

you should be happy how you are. as long as you keep it clean a girl shouldnt mind. like me, i had two circumcized boyfriends so i thought an uncircumcized one would be gross, but i was wrong. my current boyfriend is uncircumcized and i love it. hes always clean too. its just easier to pleasure since its already lubed and you just use it to rub it by sliding it. its a bit more to play with too

Wow, some people can be really insensitive. I would suggest talking to your GP about stuff like that. Asking stuff like that here seems to be asking for trouble )no offense at that last, but there are some real d!cks here)

you can lose the head of your penis playing games like that, there is no reason to be embarassed about a natural penis, you will have much more sexual sensativity than those other guys.

This morning I was peeing at the urinal in a very busy men's room in a very large international airport on the west coast. Two young Chinese men came in and stood on either side of me. They began speaking Chinese to one another when I, in between them, was trying to continue taking a leak. I looked to my left, hoping to tell him to stop talking not that he would understand it. I noticed that he had pulled back his foreskin to pee and what was uncovered was a glans (head) covered with slime and white spots. I felt like throwing up.

Yes, some can train their foreskin to stay back but probably it would not stay that way in a gym shower. An O ring would be confining and might cut off circulation and cause injury to the penis.

For goodness sakes, seriously consider getting yourself circumcised. I am grateful that my parents had it done for me and millions of other infants in our USA culture. My wife agreed for our two small sons. In fact all the men and boys in our extended family are circumcised. It is a family tradition.

As to the procedure. You would be given a local anesthetic to the penile nerve. If you desire, you can be put to sleep with a tranquilizer or two. The procedure in adolescents or adults takes about 20 minutes. You won't feel a thing. It is done as an outpatient usually by a urologist (a surgeon specializing in urinary problems and organs). Most patients go home the same day. Some go back to work or school within 3 to 5 days. Yes, you may have some discomfort during that time. Complete healing may take 2 weeks to a month before all the swelling is entirely gone. No masturbating during that month. A good time would be during summer vacation or even at Christmas time.

After that, you will have a new penis to match your peers: easy to keep clean, no more fishy smells in your underware or at the urinal, looking streamlined, total penile sensation, not just the glans.Good preventative to sexually acquirred diseases, including HIV--latest research in the USA, France, and South Africa. No chance of rare cancer of the penis. Try it, you will like it. And don't let anxiety overrule good sense.

You will have to talk it over with your parents. Show them what I said here. In my professional life as a young psychotherapist, I can only think of one patient who was not circumcised and was proud of it. All others of more than 300 male patients were circumcised, usually at birth, and had nothing but positive things to say about it.

Work this summer to pay for it if your parents won't. You need to have their permission up until you are 18 in most states. I have heard that costs can run from $200. up to $1000. +, depending where you live and who the surgeon is. You can call the local hospital about it. If you have any Jewish friends, their rabbi might direct you to their mohel (circumciser). Many will do it for a minimal cost. You don't have to be Jewish for some mohels to circumcise you. They do so many circumcisions that they are more expert than some physicians.

Why not talk to your family doctor as a starter? You will need to ask him what he thinks. Some doctors believe you should leave the body alone unless you have a medical reason to be treated. If he agrees that there are social, cultural, and religious reasons as well, then he may refer you to a urologist.
He may be willing to state the case for you to your parents. Good doctors spend a lot of time interpreting good health to patients and others in the family.
