I don't know the name of the author or the title, but I know the author killed himself before it was published. I believe his mother found the manuscript and had it published. All I can remember is that the main character worked in an office with an extremely old woman. I think it came out in the 70's. I know that's not alot to work with, but any ideas will be appreciated.

The book is "a confederacy of dunces"; the author escapes me at the moment.

damn, I red that one---he kept talking about his "valve" it was sometimes good, but yeah, I remmber it. Now I'll be up all night. It might have come out in the early 80's. "A Comedy of" something springs to mind---"A Confederacy of Dunces?
