I have an older computer and the ram is 96.0mb ram
is that alot of ram? or do i need to get some more? I want to put windows xp should i
back up windows me first then try ?

If you want XP to run well get at least 256 meg. 96 is very small. You may want to check all the other items to see if you really want to upgrade the old machine. CPU speed, video memory, HD space, etc. If all of these do not meet the XP requirements you will not be able to upgrade.

Yes you always want to backup before an upgrade (safe practice) unless you don't care if you loose all the data.

You should get more ram, it isn't very much by today's standards and you should back-up your computer before upgrading.
